If you are looking for a therapist

Do therapist directories show real availability?
Most do not. The majority of directory listings are static profiles, so a therapist who filled their caseload eight months ago can still look bookable, and you only find out after you send an inquiry and wait. NextTherapist is built the other way around: therapists keep live openings on their own profile, and you book into an actual open slot rather than joining an invisible queue.
How do therapist directories work?
A traditional directory is an advertising product. Therapists pay a monthly listing fee, the directory ranks and surfaces them, and the client sends an inquiry that may or may not be answered. The directory is paid whether or not anyone ever connects. NextTherapist keeps the listing but adds the part that was missing: current availability and direct scheduling, so the outcome being measured is a booked session and not a click.
Who owns NextTherapist?
NextTherapist is therapist-founded and female-owned. It was built by clinicians who ran into the same problem from the inside: good therapists with genuine openings were invisible, and clients who were finally ready to start were bouncing off stale listings. Meet the founders →
What happens to my data as a client?
What you share to find a therapist is used to help you find a therapist. NextTherapist does not sell your personal information, and your intake details are not treated as an advertising asset. Practicing therapists built this, which is precisely why the data posture is conservative.
Is NextTherapist a therapy company or a directory?
A directory, deliberately. NextTherapist does not employ your therapist, does not set their fees, and does not sit between you and their clinical judgment. You are matched with an independent clinician in private practice and your relationship is with them. That is a meaningful difference from platforms that employ or contract their clinicians and route you to whoever is available.

Will my therapist profile be copied or republished on other websites?
Not by us. Some platforms in this space reproduce clinician profiles across partner sites and third-party landing pages built to capture search traffic, sometimes without the clinician choosing it. NextTherapist does not resell, syndicate, or republish your profile to anyone else. It appears on NextTherapist and on pages we run ourselves, like this directory, and nowhere else. It is yours, and you can edit or remove it.
How much does it cost a therapist to be listed?
